FSC® Core Labour Requirements: New Versions of Chain of Custody Standards
The Forest Stewardship Council® has released in September 2021 new Core Labour Requirements in its chain of custody certification standard, to provide added protection for the rights of workers in all FSC® certified operations.
The new standard focuses on ILO declaration and conventions, with special regards to:
- Child Labour abolition
- Prevention of any form of Forced Labour
- No Discriminations, to ensure equal access to occupation and professional growth
- Freedom of Association and effective recognition of the right to collective bargaining
In that contest, ICT decide to promptly adopt the new version of the standard FSC-STD-40-004 (V3-1) since of next re-certification audit, as the protection of workers’ rights has always been part of our commitments and the base of our Policy and Mission.
ICT Poland celebrates its 20th anniversary
This year, ICT Poland’s anniversary celebrations took place in a different way. Instead of the usual party with music and dancing, many other activities were organised, including the creation of murals in the town of Kostrzyn.
‘Everyone at ICT Poland is delighted to be celebrating the company’s 20th anniversary. So why not share this joy with all the inhabitants of Kostrzyn nad Odrą? With this mural, we want to mark a very important event in our history, but at the same time we also want to make these spaces more attractive and colourful for Kostrzyn’s residents and visitors.’ – Michał Wrembel, General Manager of ICT Poland
The winning project
Together, we chose the project by Justyna Hołubowska-Chrząszczak. The author is an illustrator living in Gdańsk. Throughout her career she has worked for: The Times, Puro Hotels, Casa Editrice MAC, Diana Kotb, LPP, Party by Modern and Herbapol. Justyna is also the author of the mural projects created in Toruń, Warsaw and Lublin.
ICT Poland: works have begun in the cellulose storage areas
Works have begun in ICT Poland to create an additional warehouse for the storage of cellulose. The completion of the works is scheduled for the end of November 2021. The total construction area is 6,314.50 m2. The new structure will guarantee a number of advantages, including increased storage safety (dry and stable stacks), the availability of larger storage areas, as well as the possibility of stacking the cellulose on three floors, which reach a storage of approx. 9,000 tonnes.
As every year, ICT Poland has joined @WOŚP [The Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity]!
Helping others is extremely important to us, which is why once a year, on this special day, we lend a helping hand to children and families all across Poland. Last Sunday we donated money to purchase medical equipment for otolaryngology (ENT) and head diagnostics hospital wards.
In return, we received a special gift: a painting. The author of the artwork is Iwona Golor-Baszun, who also created the commercial for the 29th Final of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity.
We suggest and choose Foxy Helps Children
We have now reached the fifth edition of the «Proponujemy i Wybieramy» [We propose and choose] program linked to the Foxy Pomaga Dzieciom [Foxy helps children] project, in which ICT Poland employees suggest the candidacy and then select the local organisations that will receive financial support from our company.
This year we have decided to help 5 different organisations:
- Stowarzyszenie Dzieci Niepełnosprawnych [Disabled Children Association] Witnickie Promyczki, di Witnica;
- Uczniowski Klub Sportowy [Student sports club] «Jedynka», in Kostrzyn nad Odrą;
- Stowarzyszenie na Rzecz Osób z Autyzmem w Szkole Podstawowej [Association for Autistic Persons in Primary Schools] SOWA, in Gorzów Wlkp.;
- Przedszkole Miejskie [Municipal nursery school] n° 4 «Bajka», di Kostrzyn nad Odrą;
- Dom Dziecka [Orphanage] in Sulęcin.
Unfortunately, because of the pandemic we were not able to meet the representatives of these associations personally, as we did in previous years. This year the meeting was held online for the first time.
